Bedford Creative Arts (BCA) have two creative callouts currently.
Digital Designer/Technologist
BCA is looking to appoint a freelance creative to create an interactive digital map for our project Our Natural Blue Spaces.
Our Natural Blue Spaces is a project that works with schools and communities in Central Bedfordshire to create an illustrated map of local Blue Spaces (i.e. rivers, ponds, canals, lakes) and identifies ways in which they can be conserved and accessed by local people.
Artist, Kremena Dimitrova, is working in four schools to create a physical illustrated map and accompanying healthy-living campaign. https://kremenadimitrova.com/
We are looking for someone to interpret Kremena’s map in a digital space, on a website or via an app, and add interactivity that enables people to access the content digitally as well as physically.
Deadline: 10am, Mon 3rd June
Delivery: July - Sept 2024
Fee: £2,500-3,000.
Workshop Artist
Bedford Creative Arts are looking for an exceptional artist to deliver a series of workshops to connect the communities of Kempston with the River Great Ouse. BCA has future ambitions to commission sculptural spaces along the riverbank in Kempston. We need to understand the needs and desires of the local community and discover what we need to know about residents’ views, the river and about wildlife to inform the development of this ambitious project.
The artist will have significant experience in community engagement, a passion for the river environment and public art. We are looking for an artist to deliver a series of public creative sessions (see below example) with the people of Kempston to explore what the river means to them and what they would like to see commissioned in three key areas (between Queen’s Bridge and Kempston Mill) that would strengthen their relationship with the river and support their well-being.
Delivery: from July 2024
Fee: £3,750 - 4,000
